To Mallaig 

Mallaig is the ferry port which serves the Small Isles. It is reached by public transport. Buses: www.citylink.co.uk . You may have to change bus in Fort William to the local bus: www.shielbuses.co.uk . There is also trains and the West Highland line is considered one of the most scenic rail journeys in Scotland. www.scotrail.co.uk , www.thetrainline.com . 

It may suit you to spend the night in Mallaig where there are several hotels, guest houses, bars and eateries. Google to see what is available 

If driving there are carparks available as you enter Mallaig and in the East Bay. One month’s permit cost £11. www.myringo.co.uk 

No vehicles are allowed on Canna bar residents and contractors. 

TO CANNA

Caledonian Macbrayne ferry from Mallaig serves the Small Isles: Rum, Canna, Eigg and Muck. 

Book tickets online at www.calmac.co.uk or phone direct to Mallaig office on 01687310240 then press option 2.  

Summer Timetable runs from end of March to mid-October. The ferry comes once daily on a Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and twice on Saturday. 

Winter Timetable runs Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. It can be idyllic in Winter but best to look at long term forecast for a settled period and plan accordingly. 

To Tighard 

I will meet you at the ferry and transport luggage to Tighard. It is a 20-minute walk either: 

  1. Walk to shop follow path round past shed, Canna house wall on your left, follow path up steps to the top, turn left, walk past concrete bench, walk through big gate then through small gate to Tighard.
     

  2. Walk to shop, follow path round past shed, Canna house wall on your left, turn left at end of the wall, follow path at back of Canna House, keep walking till end of track, go through gate and turn right, follow track upwards, go through gate, turn right to last gate and you have arrived at Tighard. Follow path to house. 
     

  3. Walk past the shop and café canna, along main road to post office and red telephone box. Turn right and follow track upwards. Go through first gate, second gate and turn right through third gate, follow track and you will arrive at Tighard. 
     

Unfortunately, due to rough roads, farm tracks and incline, Tighard is not suitable for people with mobility issues.
