The Guesthouse

Tighard (High house) is an Edwardian house built by the Thom family circa 1904. A beautiful sandstone building retaining many original features and is situated in a spectacular position on the hillside overlooking the harbour, Sanday, Rum and the horizon. Sympathetically renovated as a guest house in 2006, it makes for stunning yet comfortable accommodation. The grounds are quite extensive with a small orchard, woodland and front lawn that makes a perfect sun-trap.

The Isle of Canna

Tighard is located on the Isle of Canna; the most north and westerly of the Small Isles archipelago.  The views are stunning from all directions, with Rum just across the water to the south, Skye and the western isles to the north, the mainland to the east, and Mull, Coll & Tiree in the distance, and nothing but the horizon to the west!

The harbour is one of the most sheltered in the Hebrides and is very popular in the summer months with mooring yachts.   The harbour currently has 10 moorings available.

The community now produces and owns it's very own electricity supply from wind and solar power.  The wind turbines and solar arrays were installed in the summer of 2018.

The island has a great community honesty shop selling food, snacks and souvenirs. All profits go back into the island. You can pay by cash , PayPal or card reader. Please note there is no cashline on the island.
